How To Enhance Your Brand Or Trade Show Using Custom Magic
Custom magic or custom illusions that reinforce your brand identity and work well in enhancing your brand. So, as a professional magician for the past 20 years, my magic has evolved. It’s developed not only in its skill and style, but also in the value I can offer clients. Clients’ needs are increasing. It’s less about what they want and more about what they need. It might be that there is an increase in customization for brand awareness. It might be increasing the profile of their brand. It might be helping with a marketing campaign, but whatever it is, our magic has evolved to offer greater customization for customers and clients. I was one of the first digital magicians in the UK.
Digital magic involves a hybrid of traditional magic techniques and the use of an iPad or an iPhone or an Android device to fuse the two in an increasingly contemporary world addicted to technology, the fusion of the two seem too good to resist not only for increasing number of tech brands, but also again the needs of brand to have a synergy between me performing magic and their approach to contemporary magic, which involves technology.
As a result, I was getting increased demands placed on me to create custom illusions, whether for trade shows, drinks, receptions, or, more recently, baby reveals.

For the background in technology and, of course, 15 to 20 years’ experience performing close-up magic, this seemed a perfect fit. So, what can I offer customers and clients who are becoming increasingly discerning and demanding? Well, first, I can incorporate brand colors, logos, and taglines into my magic, whether it’s into my iPad or iPhone, or even into the playing cards themselves. This allows for seamless brand integration. I offer a customization package that includes custom routines, branded playing cards, and unevenly branded iPad cases. I even create custom illusions.
Recently, I made one for a watch company that was producing a watch on eBay on the iPad. This also tied in with the company’s values. Sometimes they may be focused on growth, and in that case, I might produce coins, expand objects, or pull those objects out of a mobile phone or device. When I perform on stage, I can also create custom illusions. This can include fully custom routines built from the ground up, minor tweaks, brand colors in custom envelopes, or even uniquely designed product reveals and special ways to reveal messages.
How to make the show customised and unqiue for your audience.
Often, my shows are highly interactive, involve everybody taking part, and end with a twist that connects directly to the brand or message. My magic can also enhance and showcase product features, specifically at trade shows. Clients have asked me to incorporate invisibility or transformation to illustrate key benefits, or to do so from a visual perspective. Often, tech can be pretty dry and needs a lot of explanation.
So, together with my creative mind and sometimes my creative team, I come up with ideas to enhance or showcase the benefits of their products and capture attention far more than a PowerPoint presentation ever could. As technology transforms and accelerates the world as we know it, augmented reality becomes increasingly accessible. As a result, I’ve started augmenting live magic for branded virtual illusions, as well as on mobile phones and iPads.
This can include holograms in even holographic presentations. As I mentioned before, when it comes to stage magic, depending on the budget, I can even create illusions, tricks, or custom magic effects that not only encourage but also allow audience participation.

But also include branded items to reinforce that engagement. More often than not, whether it’s for close-up or stage clients, they encourage me to give away branded items as well to reinforce that message even further. I mentioned before that I sometimes work and collaborate with my creative team to ensure my magic aligns with the overall marketing campaigns and messaging. Not only that, but I also work with clients’ creative teams, whether it’s their marketing department, because they may have a theme or message for the event’s confidence or trade show.
This increases the synergy between my contribution and what they want to achieve. Whilst magic can often sit as a standout star of the event, I usually see myself as a Tabasco sauce. You can turn the volume up and make it as spicy and focus-driven as you want, but really, it can go with pretty much anything and enhance the experience. Often in the world of social media, I’ve been asked to create custom magic videos to increase their shareability. This can increase brand reach and become an even more interactive piece. If you head over to my Facebook page, you’ll also see some interactive magic you can take part in online.

Custom magic can make your brand or product go viral and increase its profile
It’s custom routines like this that can increase shareability and comments, which increase visibility. So, all of my magic has a significant amount of storytelling to enhance the product and the brand that engages with it. This allows me to narrate brand journeys or milestones, such as a bank having a card multiply to show wealth growth, or a tech company teleporting data to shift. So, all of it, I work in connection with a team to create custom scripts. They equally offer that flexibility, so it doesn’t come across as cheesy. So, there you have it, and the custom magic effects are vast.
You don’t have to go down the digital magic or iPad magician route, but it’s a great way to enhance the brand and increase its visibility. The storytelling piece can go even further, and I’m often hired as a professional mind reader as well.
Custom magic enhances everything but does not have to be the star of the show
But also include branded items, reinforcing that engagement. How to bring Duncan and his custom magic to your event
I can use custom business cards with optical illusions or use the cards provided by the client to perform a piece of mind dream. This allows the client or customer to take away a souvenir. When they go and tell their friends, family, or indeed colleagues about the magical experience, they will link it back to the positive experience they’ve had and be left with a memento they can share with their team. Have an increasing demand placed on me to create custom magic effects. Whilst they can take a little time on the backend, I have over 5 or 10 years of experience creating truly unique custom pieces to help clients achieve not just what they want but what they need.
If you are looking for a custom magic solution for your event, I’d encourage you to get in touch. If only we had a chat to see what’s feasible and what isn’t viable.
