Magician for High-Net Worth Individuals
As a high net worth magician, I occasionally get hired to perform to high-net-worth individuals. It’s not usually a call that comes in saying, I’m a billionaire, would you mind performing to my family? But it’s usually organized by an exclusive agent or agency on behalf of an additional booker. Very rarely do you know that they are high net worth individual until you arrive at the event. The event is sometimes more glamorous and it’s usually tailored to them in a very specific situation. That I thought I’d give you an insight into my experience performing to high-net-worth individuals, recently in Croatia.
Often my work is at weddings private parties, corporate events, product launches, trade shows in the United Kingdom. But now and again, I travel overseas to perform internationally. In July, I was invited by an agency to perform for a high net worth individual on a private yacht moored off the coast of Zagreb.
Despite knowing that I’d be performing to a high net worth individual, I don’t tailor my fee to take advantage of that fact. Although I do consider my time away from my business, my family, and my other passions as I would for any other individual.
A Day In The Life

Performing Internationally
My foray into performing to this group was taking a flight from London, which means I meant I had to travel, take the time to wait in the airport, go through the security, and then travel to Zagreb. Zagreb I would then have to navigate my way to the hotel, check into the hotel ready for the event that evening, getting there extremely early to ensure that I can make the correct transfers.
The taxi then took me to the harbor where I was picked up by a fast boat to then transfer me to the billionaire’s yacht to Russian Jewish billionaire families. One mother having 9 children in total, 20 to 25 people with a plethora of sea-based toys were on display. My show I was to deliver was delivered with fun and a plum and received extremely well by all. I then took the boat back having enjoyed evening meal with them back to the hotel for an evening rest, and then wait for the following day to take my flight back to the UK to transfer to the station, to wait to the station, to take the train back to my home, and then a bus or taxi back.
High Net Worth Magician Showreel
High-Net Worth Magician
Performing internationally is long and often tiring. So why am I a high-net-worth magician? And what constitutes a high-net-worth magician? There are a few considerations when booking a magician for high-net-worth individuals. Do they have a background of performing at events beyond just weddings and private parties? Do they understand that high net worth individuals think differently and behave differently?
Tailored Magic For High Net Worth Individuals
Digital Magic To Launch Your Product
Often frustratingly the schedule is irrelevant to the schedule you’ve been told. And the same in this occasion. On arrival on board, I had to wait over an hour and a half from the allotted time. A professional in customer service or a professional in the entertainment industry will tell you that unfortunately, this is part of the job. It’s frustrating, but it’s part of your service.
So, an hour and a half was added and then I was invited to evening meal. For me, I feel it’s rude to just leave, and I like to spend time connecting and networking with the hosts, seeing as I’ve been invited into their lives as a guest, as well as an entertainer. Sometimes I’m even hired as a digital magician to make the event truly unique with customised routines.
Add on to the time, another hour and a half for dining. Then there are often challenges with logistics of who wants to watch, are there any meal restrictions and other contingencies? Ultimately what I’m saying, if you are a magician for high-net-worth individuals, you need to be prepared to be flexible and adaptable, not take it to heart, and know that your support team will have also had to be flexible to support you as well. The next consideration is your fee.

Whilst I mentioned before that I don’t change my fee dependent on the person it is tailored to whether I have to pay for my own flights or accommodation. However, another consideration is that agencies would also get involved in securing an event like this. Usually, high net worth individuals are shielded by their PA, who are in turn shielded by high-net-worth agency and then an entertainment agency, and then perhaps another booker.
Very soon commissions get added onto all of these, and the fee that you finally get is very different to the one the high net worth gets paid that pays.
Why Choose Me?
So, if you want to perform to high-net-worth individuals as an entertainer or a high net worth magician, either you will have been seen at an event, you’ll details passed on, or you’ll be contacted by an agency. Another consideration is as well as flexible. You do also need to have the ability to customize your routines. Often high net worth individuals have very specific custom and bespoke requirements for their party or event. They often look for something that’s unique and tailored to them. They’ve often spent many years enjoying the luxury of having exactly what they want.
Because for them, price is no issue. So, if you have the ability to customize, tweak, or tailor your act, then so be it. For me, I have multiple strategies for customizing different elements of my stage routine or closeup routine. This could be customizing some digital magic to include brand names or custom playing cards or custom phone cases, but equally so I customize my stage routine, performing unique bespoke pieces, tailored to that date and that audience.
This adds real impact and adds real value. Not only that, there needs to be flexibility with what you perform. For me, I was supposed to perform closeup on a show, but it was decided that my closeup act wasn’t required. Whilst this might sound like it becomes easier for me, in fact it’s on that occasion a little challenging because I need that closeup segment as a lead in for some of the routines they wanted. However, my job is to remain professional, entertaining, sophisticated and classy.
What Else Do High Net Worth Individuals Or Their Agencies Or Bookers Look For?
Well, they look for somebody who has the demeanor of somebody who can perform in that arena. Are they covered in tattoos, beards, unkempt, unclean, having a style which isn’t in keeping with class and sophistication. So, it’s important to ensure that your style is tailored correctly for the audience in question. Whilst I could have arrived and left in the same day, performing to any audience is important to arrive early and invest the time. Whether I’m performing at a wedding or a private party in the UK, a consideration has to be made when performing internationally as well.
So yes, I do get hired by high-net-worth individuals as a magician, and sometimes it can be a truly exciting, engaging, and fun experience, but more often than not, it’s just another event where I have to retain my professionalism, my love of my work, and passion for creating some memorable unique moments. Some moments that money cannot buy. Some moments that high net worth individuals who have possibly seen more countries than I will ever see in my life more money than I’ll ever see in my life, but perform to them something they will never see again in their life and have never seen before. This is the true magic of performing magic to any audience, whether they’re a high net worth individual or somebody from a local working man’s club or celebration that they’ve got their first job.
