As a close up magician and mind reader I am invited to perform across the length and breadth of the country and between the Months of June to September, I am the busiest performing at weddings. This year (2018) has been no different and I have been a regular at weddings Venues in Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Birmingham, Lincoln and London. With so many venues out there vying for business I wanted to give my top picks from this season.
The first is Floral Media based in Newark. This really is a stunning and hidden gem set in North Nottinghamshire. Perfectly designed gardens are crammed with full of flowers which overflow into the wedding venue itself. The venue I attended was a contemporary vintage high tea affair with amazing looking home made sausage rolls and pork pies to accompany delicate sandwiches and cakes. The venue itself is incredible warm and welcoming and is one of my top picks from this Summer Season.
In more central Nottinghamshire you have the well known Swancar weddings. Whilst I’ve not attended many weddings there this year, its a beautiful venue in a beautifully converted barn New developments at Swancar have included the conversion of some of the stable out the back to make extra accommodation for guests to make this an irresistible choice for brides, grooms and their guests. With me living just 5 minutes away, you are more than welcome to come and have a free demo if you’re in the area too!
Further afield Dower House is home to Gold England. Set in the glorious woodland area of Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire, this is a beautiful location with a stunning interior and food. This is one of the most peaceful urban venues I have performed at and the interior is truly decadent but tasteful without the over bearing opulence of a country house.
Hazel Gap barn in Edwinstowe is a venue I have recently become more familiar with and is a beautiful venue – again – a converted barn but with beautiful grounds. Perhaps the stand out here is the food. It looks magnificent and no expense spared in its quality. A beautiful venue, great staff and exquisite food make this an upcoming wedding venue for sure.
To close – I’d like to recommend so external caterers in the form of The Otto-Men. With vegan food taking more of a mainstay in the lives of conscious eaters – these guys cook up some amazing food. So much so, that I could happily write a post all about their cuisine. They have influences from persian cuisine but include amazing hummus, Falafal and their own inspirational ‘sexy-pie’. They are based in Manchester but travel all over the UK and attend numerous food festivals. They are not just food festival people but tremendous food with a real ability to blend flavors together. Looking at their costs – they offer great value for money too. Highly recommended.
